Arthur W. Lux

Arthur W. “Art” Lux, 90, of West Valley, passed away March 29, 2017 at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville.

Art was born in East Concord on Aug. 4, 1926 to the late Marcus and Mildred (nee Edington) Lux. He married Dolores Hemmerling on Aug. 11, 1949.

Art served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in West Valley and the Ellicottville and West Valley American Legion posts.

He was a machinist at Peerless Winsmith in Springville and worked part-time for Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home in Springville.

In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by 16 siblings.

Survivors include his wife; children Richard (Nancy) Lux of Orchard Park, Robert (Linda) Lux of West Valley, Kathy (David) Robertson of North Carolina, Thomas (Sue Wlenka) Lux of Florida, Judy Lux of Hamburg, Brian (Sheila) Lux of West Valley and Jeffrey (Lori) Lux of West Virginia; a sister Maxine Litton of New York; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 5, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St., Springville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 6, from St. John the Baptist Church in West Valley.
