Chester “Chet” G. Bekiel Jr.

Chester “Chet” G. Bekiel Jr., passed away peacefully May 5, 2018 at his Springville home. He was 68.


Born Jan. 9, 1950 in Springville, he was a son of the late Chester G. Sr. and Stella Urbanczyk Bekiel. Chester married his bride, Barbara Devonshire on Aug. 1, 1981.

Chester drove tractor-trailer from the mid-1970s until he retired from Tops Markets in 2015.

He lived his life to the fullest, attending Woodstock and hitchhiking cross-country. Everyone he knew loved him. Chester loved listening to Blues music and playing the washboard.

In addition to his wife of 35 years, Chester is survived by five children, Sarah (Gary) Bailey of Colorado, Dan (Danielle Fallon) Dearmyer, Stac (Denea) Dearmyer, Ashley (Cory) Bekiel and Jacob (Ashley) Bekiel, all of Springville; 12 grandchildren, Shayna, Haley, Shad, Riley, Serene, Wyatt, Devon, Danny, Colin, Landon, Gunner, and Harper; grandpuppies Opie and Lucky; and siblings, Linda (Ernie) Dustman, Alan (Luann) Bekiel and Mary (Bill Barber) Redden.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Chester’s body is being donated to science.

A celebration of Chester’s life – Chester Fest – will be planned to honor the amazing person he was.
