Elaine Marilyn Middendorf, 90, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2018 at St. Mary’s Highland Hills Village in Athens, Ga.
Elaine was born on March 23, 1928 to the late Benjamin and Helen (nee Soderholm) Keen.
She met her husband, Earl Middendorf, while attending Cornell University. The couple raised three children.
Elaine lived most of her life in the Boston Hills of Western New York, attending a one-room school in Boston until the eighth grade. She spent most of her life working on the family farm and at their produce stand, Keen’s Market. Until her retirement, she worked for the Erie County Department of Social Services for many years.
Elaine was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother who dearly loved her family, travel and her faith life. She was active in the Boston Senior Citizens, Historical Society, Bridge Club and her church.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years; children Wayne Franklin Middendorf and Carolyn Middendorf Wilkinson.
Elaine is survived by her son Bruce (Mimi) Middendorf; daughter-in-law Karen Middendorf; son-in-law Randy Wilkinson; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Saturday, July 7, from Salem Lutheran Church in Springville at 1 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, Springville.
