Fred Andrews, 87, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
Fred was born in Boston on Jan. 12, 1931 to the late Bernell and Louise (nee Vogt) Andrews. He grew up on farms in Western New York and graduated from Springville-Griffith Institute. Following graduation, Fred joined the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS New Jersey for the entire duration of the Korean War.
Fred was a very patriotic and proud member of the VFW Post 4820 in Port Neches, Texas. He was a master carpenter, a gifted woodworker and he will always be remembered for his green thumb.
In addition to his parents, Fred is predeceased by his brothers Bud, Jerry, Billy and Gordon and sister Joyce.
Fred is survived by his son, Brian Andres; his wife LaDawn of Port Arthur, Texas; brothers Pete, Ken, Larry and John Andrews and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews from coast to coast.
Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Boston.
