Grace Gentner passed away September 22, 2017.
She was born in North Collins in 1919 to the late George and Grace Kohn. She graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology before she and Maynard Salzler married and moved to the house they built together in Springville, where she was the steward of that home for 69 years. She enjoyed gardening and mowing her own lawn until the age of 90.
Grace was a public servant, world traveler, career woman, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, artist, creator, fixer and organizer. She always wanted to be of service to the community, which twice earned her the recognition as Citizen of the Year in Springville.
Grace was the Town Clerk for Concord for 28 years and loved her time in office.
In 1964, she married Raymond Gentner.
Grace was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Kohn Lorenz.
Grace is survived by her children Nancy Salzler Hessler, Barbara Salzler (Larry) Craft and Daniel Salzler; grandchildren Matthew and Barbara Jill Hessler, Laura, Jeffrey and Karyn and Scott; four great-grandchildren and brother George Calvin Kohn of Florida.
Friends may call Friday, Sept. 29 at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St., Springville, from 4-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Sept. 30 from St. Aloysius Church at 10 a.m.
