Joyce M. Lucas, 79, of East Otto, passed away January 19, 2018 at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo.
Joyce was born in East Otto on June 5, 1938 to the late H. Darrel and F. Marguerite (nee Colvin) Razey. She married Floyd M. Lucas Jr. on March 2, 1956. He passed away in 2017.
Joyce was very active in her community, having been a member of the East Otto United Methodist Church since 1953, serving as its treasurer and secretary. She was a member of the William C. Edmunds Volunteer Fireman’s Auxiliary for 17 years and was an EMT with the fire department. She took part in many church clubs and activities and also worked at the Erie County Fair.
In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Razey and Harland Razey and one great-grandchild, Odin Marshall Lucas.
Joyce is survived by two sons, Robert (Judy) Lucas of Buffalo and David (Barbara) Lucas of Boston; a daughter, Virginia (Peter Hoffman) Lucas of North Collins; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held from the Mentley Funeral Home, 105 E. Main St., Gowanda. Burial was in East Otto Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the East Otto United Methodist Church Women’s Memorial Fund or the East Otto Ambulance Fund.
