Shirley Kroll (nee Phinney), 80, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2017 with her loving family by her side after a courageous fight with cancer.
Shirley was born on Feb. 5, 1937 to the late Gladys and Alvin Phinney and grew up in Delevan and Ashford. She married Gerald Kroll on Dec. 21, 1957 with whom she had five children.
She had a partnership running Contessa’s Bar on Route 5 in Hamburg. She was a talented singer and loved to play as a part of many bands, especially Shirley K and the Country Way. Her passion for country music and the classics especially shined when she sang her all-time favorite, Patsy Cline. Shirley had a passion for representing Avon beauty products and also enjoyed traveling to North Haven Island and the coast of Maine to spend time with family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Darlene (nee Kroll) Borkowski of Rockland, Maine.
Shirley is survived by her children Larry Kroll of East Otto, Martin (Marty) Kroll of Springville, Laura (nee Kroll) Horn of Little Valley and Jerry Kroll of Springville; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Staying true to her generous nature, Shirley donated herself to aid in the battle against cancer at the University of Buffalo Foundation.
A celebration of life will be held at the New Life Fellowship Church, 17 Park St. Springville on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 10:45 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the University at Buffalo Foundation – Anatomical Gift Program.
