Letter to the Editor: Questions and answers concerning the Concord Senior Center

Editor:

There have been questions regarding the Concord Senior Center. The Nutrition Program is open four days a week. We are not open on Wednesdays due to conflict with the Senior Club and Red Cross Blood Mobile. Our program is growing in numbers – thanks to the help of Nancy James and Kathy Lipka, our staff.

Erie County states that we have to have 12 meals to stay open, if we don’t we cannot serve lunch. So why don’t you stop in and see what we have to offer. Spend some time eating lunch and talking to others. Where can you get lunch for a $3 donation? We even take food Snap benefits. The center is open every day there is lunch from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. except on Wednesday. Then either the Senior Club is here or the Red Cross – so anyone can walk in.

This month SCENe is having University Express lectures here on Fridays, so it will be open during then. There are always schedules at the center for anyone to take. People have suggested a mailing, but I do not feel that is a good use of taxpayer’s taxes to spend an average $200-$300 every few months on postage.

I am always open to suggestions for the center. If you can’t see me, you can call 592-2764 or email concord2017sc@gmail.com.
