Baker was acknowledged as a first-team All-Western New York football selection, as a defensive back. The annual awards are chosen by the Buffalo News staff and chronicle the best athletes from the 2016-17 high school sports season.

In addition to the All-WNY football team, the All-WNY basketball team was awarded along with Prep Talk Male and Female Athletes of the Year, Prep Talk Program of the Year, Prep Talk Team of the Year, Prep Talk Coach of the Year and a Prep Talk Hall of Fame inductee.

Former Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson kicked off the evening with a message for the athletes to enjoy all the accomplishments, but never get complacent, as the event’s guest speaker.

The Prep Talk Awards were hosted by Buffalo News Deputy Sports Editor Keith McShea along with radio personalities Janet Snyder and Nicholas Picholas.
