Fourteen S-GI student-athletes receive spring team sport recognition

SPRINGVILLE—Fourteen student-athletes from three spring sports were recognized July 16 by The Buffalo News for their outstanding seasons this past spring. The list includes nine boys and five girls from lacrosse, softball and baseball.

Ten athletes made one of their respective class or division’s teams, while four others received honorable mention.

Kaylee Timmel was a first-team selection in softball, while Dan Wirfel, Dan Robertson and Ian Baker received the same distinctions in baseball for Erie County Interscholastic Conference IV. Baker was the lone Griffin to earn an All-Western New York accolade by earning a spot on its honorable mention list.

Six Griffins made second team selections. Mackenzie Galvin and Faith Jablonski were selected to the Class D girls lacrosse team. Caroline Dickinson and Mariah Gamel were selected for second-team ECIC IV softball honors, while Jarrett Wolf and Shaun Wright received the same distinctions in baseball.

Rounding out Springville’s student-athletes in the honorable mention category for ECIC IV baseball were Austin Lux, Austin Coon, Evan Elkins and Trevor Bunch.
