JV girls still on a winning track

SPRINGVILLE – The JV girls volleyball team hosted the Tonawanda Warriors on Sept. 27 and came away with a 3-0 victory.

The team dominated the first game behind Sara Ehlers' strong serving and Marie Emerling's quality net play. The girls took game one by a score of 25-6. The team played well once again in game two by winning 25-14. That game saw solid court play from Marin Lehr and excellent passing by Melanie Berry. Liv Schindler helped from the service line, too.

The girls completed the sweep winning game three by a score of 25-15. That game saw excellent play from Rachel Stressinger and Jill Roggie. Both girls played well to bring home the sweep.

The girls hosted Lake Shore on Sept. 29 and came away with a 2-1 victory. The girls flexed their muscles in game one behind the serving skills of Elyssa Hunter, who picked apart the Eagles' serve/receive. Ehlers proved again she's an excellent passer out of the back row as she handled whatever the visitors sent her way.

Game two was more challenging as the score ended up getting to 23-23. The girls pulled away the final two points behind a big kill from Berry and some excellent court play by Vaidah Emerling. Stressinger was solid from the setter spot and service line with great consistency. That game also saw Lehr make passes and big swings to lead the team to the overall win.

The girls dropped game three but Roggie was outstanding during the game. Her sets were great and she made some big digs to help extend the point.

The girls hosted the Lackawanna Steelers on Monday night, Oct. 2, and came away with a 3-0 victory.

On Tuesday. Oct. 3, the  girls volleyball team hosted Pioneer and came away with a 3-0 win. The girls took game one thanks to Marie Emerling's outstanding net and serve performance. Ivette Lewandowski was strong from the outside position as well. Hunter was the team’s best communicator and helped guide the Griff's to the win.

The team took game two by a score of 25-9. That game saw Berry and Lehr serve well to bring home the overall win. The team took game three  in dramatic fashion winning 25-23. Roggie was awesome all over the floor and Lehr stabilized the back row with some solid passes.

The girls are now 12-0 and will travel to Maryvale in hopes of keeping their undefeated season alive.
