SPRINGVILLE—The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced Springville-Griffith Institute alum Christian Krasnek as its Men’s Swimmer Diver of the Week Oct. 23 in the conference’s first weekly player accolades of the 2017-18 season.
The Division III NCAA Fredonia student-athlete was able to capture the Blue Devils' sole win in a meet with Division I Niagara with a score of 233.05 in the 1-meter dive. Krasnek also grabbed a second-place finish in the 3-meter dive with a score of 235.60. Krasnek’s scores helped Fredonia come close against the Purple Eagles, before falling 120-100.
Krasnek captured an Erie County Interscholastic Conference title, while finishing eighth in the sectionals for Springville in 2016 under S-G I diving coach Ryan Dygert.
The sophomore kicked off this season with a pair of second-place finishes – one each at 1-meter and 3-meter diving – against Ithaca College, Buffalo State College and SUNY-Brockport, Oct. 14.
The 5-foot-8 biology major is the son of Springville residents Vianka and Ronald Krasnek, and was a two-sport athlete who also competed in boys soccer for S-GI.
