SLLF youth camp set for Sunday

SPRINGVILLE—Football players between the ages of 6 and 11 are invited to a mini-camp this Sunday, July 15 from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Hosted by Springville-Griffith Institute varsity football coach Rob Valenti, along with his staff and some former players, the free camp will be at the High School practice field.

“We’ll put all the little league kids coming through some offensive and defensive skills and have some fun,” Valenti said. “Right now, I believe we have between 25-30 kids that are planning on attending, but we would welcome any late comers that were interested.”

The venture is on behalf and in support of Springville Little League Football.

Equipment pick-up will also be July 15 from 9:15 a.m. through 1 p.m., with player sign-ins beginning at 9:30 a.m. The snack stand will be open for drinks and lunch and each participant will receive a free gift as well.

Some of the players who are either already on a college football roster or will be attending a college football camp this fall include Ian Baker, Bryce Szudzik, Connor O’Brien, Pat Hannon and Mike Hannon. An additional college player or two may also be in attendance.

Baker will attend Baldwin Wallace University (Berea, Ohio) this fall, and Mike Hannon will join brother Pat at Alfred State University (Alfred,) this fall. O’Brien plays for Springfield College (Springfield, Mass.) and Szudzik plays for the College at Brockport.
