SPRINGVILLE—The Springville-Griffith Institute girls’ track and field team has had some outstanding performances this season. Corrin Sacilowski has continued to impress everyone in the 1,500 meter racewalk, breaking her own school record when she finished in 7:33.9 at an invitational at Hamburg High School. Sacilowski’s new record is a 14 second improvement over last year.
Hannah Goetz broke the 2,000 meter steeplechase record, set in 2001 by Desiree Zielen-Ersing. Goetz finished in 7:53.0 while competing at the Pioneer Invitational on May 20. The 2001 record was 7:58.2. She will have two more chances to improve her time this season, while running at the ECIC Championship meet and the Section 6 Championship meet.
Payton Rowe had a strong performance at the Pioneer Invitational, finishing second in the 100 meter hurdles. Rowe will also be running at the ECIC and Section 6 meets. Rowe, Goetz, Chloe Chamberlin, MacKenzie Engle, Lizzy Miranda, Evelyn Smith, Sacilowski, Sonya Krezmien, Abby Steiner and Allison Lavanture will be traveling to Hamburg for the ECIC meet on May 26 and 27.
