Boston Hot Dog Roast breaks record

BOSTON—Legislator John Mills’ Boston Library Hot Dog Roast was held on July 13 and broke its previous record, raising $1,335.

“The weather threatened … but when it came time for the Hot Dog Roast Fundraisers we got lucky. I want to thank everyone who decided not to stay home and came out to … Boston,” Mills said. “Thanks to your dedication, [Boston] broke [its] previous record and did amazingly well, raising much-needed money for programming and materials.”

Library Director Lydia Herren accepted a check from Mills on July 25. In six years, Mills’ fundraiser in Boston has raised $6,423.

“The Boston Free Library is so grateful to Legislator Mills and his staff for hosting this wonderful

community event,” Herren said. “The library is excited to use the proceeds to allow us to continue to provide free educational and entertaining programs for all ages.”

The Hot Dog Roast Fundraisers have raised more than $72,000 for the libraries in Mills’ district.
