SPRINGVILLE—Continuing its commitment to educate the public on alternative energies, Green Springville is gearing up for spring with its Speaker Series and an Earth Day celebration.
Following up on the success of previous speakers, Green Springville welcomes Jason Kulaszewski from the University at Buffalo Regional Institute and Gabriel Recchio from PUSH Buffalo. These speakers will highlight the current state-of-the-art solar panel technologies, discuss the upcoming regional effort to reduce costs through group purchasing and answer questions on solar panel systems.
The group is coordinating a two-hour, family-friendly Earth Day celebration on April 22. Starting a 2 p.m. at the Springville Center for the Arts, a variety of activities are planned including natural face painting, planting stations, a chalk mural and earth-friendly games. Everyone is invited to enjoy light refreshments while listening to the live music and hanging out. Green Springville volunteers will be on hand to discuss some of the activities planned for the rest of the year.
The Erie County Water Quality Committee is hosting its annual compost bin and rain barrell sale and Green Springville will be helping. Every year the ECWQC offers a discounted price on compost bins and rain barrels for pickup and Green Springville is arranging for a local pickup option.
