Kittle and Co. bring bluegrass to SCA

SPRINGVILLE—The bluegrass band Kittle and Co. will be performing at the Springville Center for the Arts on July 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Previously of the Grammy-winning Turtle Island Quartet, Jeremy Kittel has been a composer-arranger-collaborator for such diverse artists as My Morning Jacket, Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble and Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn. He blazes through a Bach violin partita as easily as a Scottish reel, bringing the same intense focus and precision to both. He has performed on A Prairie Home Companion, as a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony and taught at Berklee College. For the last few years the Michigan native, now based in Brooklyn, has been diligently building his own repertoire of music for a wholly original new group.

This Kittel and Co. show features Josh Pinkham, named “the future of the mandolin” by Mandolin Magazine, and guitarist Quinn Bachand, who has toured with fiddling icons Ashley MacIsaac and Natalie MacMaster. Kittel & Co.’s new album was recently released on June 29 on Compass Records.

Tickets are available in advance for $12 at or by calling 592-9038. Tickets at the door are $15.
