CHAFFEE—A Women in the Outdoors event will be held June 9 at the Erie County Conservation Society in Chaffee. This will be a day of fun outdoors including tomahawk throwing, walk in the woods, talking turkey, archery and crafts. Mothers, daughters, sisters and friends are welcome to sign up and learn a new skill – no experience is required.
The event is hosted by the Springville Strutters chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation headquartered in Springville. Registration costs $65 and includes a hot catered lunch. Pre-registration is required by June 1.
“Our chapter has hosted this event for 18 years, and we work to ensure everyone feels at ease,” said Becky Werchowski. “In a judgment-free zone, everyone can learn and have a good time. If someone hits a bull’s-eye, everyone cheers … if they miss the target, everyone cheers anyway. It’s a lot of fun.”
Knowledgeable instructors will teach activities including tomahawk throwing, basic shotgun, self defense, archery, women’s canoe camping, emergency preparedness, walk in the woods, owl painted tote bag, food preparation and fire and let’s talk turkey.
