New exhibit to open at Cattaraugus County Museum

MACHIAS—“The Greatest Event of the Year: The Cattaraugus County Fair in Print and Poster” will open as the Cattaraugus County Museum and Research Library’s newest exhibit. The exhibit will open June 17 during Family Day at the Museum.


The exhibit will focus on historic ephemera from the Cattaraugus County Fair, including signs, flags, tickets and receipts and feature a series of turn of the 20th Century color lithograph posters, which have recently been restored to their original vivid beauty.   

Family Day at the Museum will run from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 with entertainment beginning at 11 a.m. This event, as well as all events and admission to the museum, is free and open to the public.  

The museum is located on Route 16 in Machias. The regular hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Call 353-8200 with any questions.
