ORCHARD PARK—Multiple rabies clinics are being planned throughout the county later this year. Organized by the Erie County Health Department, in partnership with the Erie County SPCA, Medaille College Veterinary Technology and Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society, the clinics are free.
Wednesday, May 30, a clinic will be held from 4-7 p.m. at Erie Community College South Campus building #7, 4041 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park. A clinic will also be held Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the Springville Volunteer Fire Hall, 405 W. Main St.
In order for pets to receive the vaccination, pets must be at least three months of age and restrained on a leash. Proof of previous rabies vaccination must be provided to receive a three-year certificate, otherwise a one-year certificate will be issued and there is a limit of three pets at one time.
If at any time someone or their pets have been exposed to a wild animal, or bitten by a dog or cat, they should contact the Erie County Department of Health at 961-6800.
