SPRINGVILLE—For seven decades, the community has been served by the Springville Moose Lodge 1249, and on Saturday, they’ll be celebrating that milestone.
The Springville Moose Lodge, located at 13080 Buffalo Road, is part of an international family fraternity that is “dedicated to bringing communities closer together and celebrating life.” The Springville Loyal Order of Moose 1249 and the Women of the Moose 1183 are both completely volunteer based and host fundraisers and events to help raise money for those deserving in the local community.
“It’s great, and the feeling just gets better every time we help an organization,” Administrator David Baker said. “It’s great to be able to help people in need.”
Along with helping local organizations, Baker said another main mission of the many Moose Lodges across the country is contributing to Mooseheart, a campus outside of Chicago that helps disadvantaged children, and Moosehaven, a campus in Florida that helps take care of senior citizens in need.
Within the Springville Moose Lodge, Baker said it is the volunteers and members throughout the organization who have played a big role in their success over the past 70 years
"We have great people in our lodge," Baker said. "Everyone just pitches in for everything that needs to get done ... we all work together and help each other."
To help celebrate their 70th anniversary, the Springville Moose Lodge will be hosting a party on Saturday, July 22 from 4 p.m. - midnight with a car and bike show, music from Band of Brothers and The Country Poor Boys, a variety of food and more.
Baker said the Moose Lodge is always looking for new members to join and help with the many ongoing fundraisers and events, including their weekly fish fries, monthly specialty dinners and more in their efforts to continue helping those in need for many more years to come.
"It's just a wonderful organization and once you get in it and you are involved with all the nice people around here, you just want to do more and more," Baker said.
